These works included site clearing, bulk excavation and removal of 35,000m3 shale rock and detailed excavation. Works were carried out in conjunction with the shoring operation, works were carefully planned and programmed so as to ensure timely and safe completion.  The excavation was up to 14m deep and included a 4.5m deep lift pit in the middle of the site.  In order to ensure stability, the perimeter of the excavation was pre drilled thus providing a stable work face, on completion of the excavation rock spall mesh was placed on the face of the excavation for the safety of workers.

Traffic control was paramount for the exiting of trucks onto busy Queen St, this was completed without incident.  Our contract also included a stormwater diversion approx 45m in length which was completed out of hours to the satisfaction of the Brisbane City Council.

Shamrock Civil were awarded the contract for the decontamination & civil works at the new Ipswich Recreation Centre at Collingwood Park. The site was formally used as a firing range which resulted in high levels of lead, specialists were appointed to verify for unexploded ordinates.
An extensive E&SC management plan was implemented to ensure minimal run off from the site, these included cut off drains and a detention basin.

We utilized a grid system for the systematic removal of contaminated soil; each grid was verified on completion of excavation by GHD, all material removed were placed in stockpile and covered with previously stripped topsoil.
Following verification of the decontamination we undertook bulk earthworks and approx 5,000m2 of asphalt pavements.
