Tradecoast Central, located on the former Brisbane Airport site adjacent to the Gateway Arterial Motorway is a joint venture between the Brisbane City Council and Prime Development Corporation which will provide on completion, an area in excess of 110 hectares of a planned industrial community.
Shamrock Civil were awarded the demolition and site preparation package with the main scope of works being the removal and processing of 15,850m3 of existing concrete and 6,000m3 of existing asphalt pavements within the site.
25,000m3 of existing spoil material was located on top of the existing pavements in various locations. It was necessary to remove this material to allow the removal of the pavements in these locations. The fill material was carted from the runway and placed and compacted in accordance with level 1 geotechnical supervision in areas of future development within the Tradecoast central site.
2,000m3 of the stockpiled material consisted of acid sulphate affected soils. It was necessary to lime treat this soil on site before it was carted to the fill area. Bioremediation was required on 1,800m3 of soil located at the former Fuel Depot. This consisted of spreading the soil, treating it with fertilizer at 1kg/m3 and turning twice per week for 5 weeks.
All works were completed on time and to a high quality to meet the requirements of Prime Developments.
