The Tribune on Grey Building is a $65 Million commercial office building positioned on the corner of Grey and Tribune St, Southbank. The building includes 12,000 square meters of commercial space, with some ancillary uses, and is designed to accommodate the goals of the Southbank Corporation for Grey Street.
Shamrock Civil were contracted by Stockwell to carry out bulk earthworks, bored piers, retention and decontamination of the site. The bulk earthworks included clearing and stripping the site and excavation to basement level to a depth of approximately 6 meters beneath the existing road level.
The perimeter of the site and adjoining properties were retained by a series of contiguous bored piers, whalers and rock anchors. Once the structure of the building was completed the anchors and whaler were de-stressed and removed from site.
Throughout the course of the work, the site was selectively decontaminated under geotechnical and environmental supervision to enable the site be removed from the Contaminated Land Register.
The Tribune on Grey Street project comprised complicated and detailed works that took place on a small and heavily congested site. The project was delivered to the client successfully due to the preliminary planning and teamwork between Shamrock Civil and Stockwell.
