RAAF Amberley Stage 3 Package 4 Redevelopment

Shamrock Civil Engineering was contracted by Baulderstone to undertake the Civil Works on the Stage 3 Package 4 Redevelopment project within the RAAF Base at Amberley.  The package 4 project delivered four new facilities for the RAAF including:

  • Aviation Fuels Compound (AVC);
  • Liquid Dry Breathing Oxygen Store (LDBO);
  • Mechanical Equipment Operational Maintenance Squadron (MEOMS); and
  • Military Working Dogs Compound (MWD)

The Civil Works completed by Shamrock Civil Engineering included large scale earthworks, pavement construction, and in ground service installation across 70,000m2.  In total, Shamrock Civil Engineering constructed over 28,000m2 of pavements, carried out earthworks operations in excess of 60,000m3 and installed over 2,4km of in ground sewer and stormwater drainage.  The stormwater drainage included a 120,000L Atlantis Rainwater Harvesting Tank and three large Gross Pollutant Traps.

Throughout the project, Shamrock Civil Engineering was determined to carry out the works on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to RAAF operations.  During the excavation and installation of in ground services it was not uncommon for Shamrock Civil to encounter existing unknown and unidentified services.  Shamrock Civil developed site specific procedures involving non-mechanical excavation methods to protect the existing services and enable the works to continue without any delays or disruptions to the RAAF operations.
