Newstead Waterfront Works

DURATION:            December 2008 - April 2010

Joint Works:  Construction of new pavements including Skyring Terrace, Cunningham Street, Festival Place and upgrade of sections of Wyandra Street, Longland Street, Byres Street and Waterloo Street, Newstead.  All works were in accordance with Brisbane City Council specification and consisted of the following:

  • The importation and placement of approximately 30,000m3 of fill material;
  • Placement of 2,100m of stormwater pipework ranging from 0.5 - 4.5m in depth;
  • Placement of 730m of 225mm dia PE sewer works at 4.5m in depth;
  • Placement of 750m of 150/250mm dia water main works;
  • Placement of 20,100m of Energex electrical conduit works;
  • Co-ordination, construction and certification of 2 No. signalized 4 way intersections between new and existing roads;
  • Placement of 3km of kerb; and
  • Placement of 13,000m2 of asphalt.

Mirvac Only Works:  Upgrade of existing Gordon Street, Waterloo Street and Byres Street intersection.  Also including the construction of Waterloo Street carpark which was handed over to Brisbane City Council upon completion.  All works were in accordance with Brisbane City Council specification and consisted of the following:

  • The importation and placement of approximately 4,000m3 of fill material;
  • Placement of 160m of stormwater pipework;
  • Placement of 1,300m of kerb; and
  • Placement of 3,500m2 of asphalt.

The project works were co-ordinated, stages, constructed and certified to suit client program requirments while facilitating neighboring residential and commercial property access and the tidal influence throughout the site.
