CLIENT: Southern Regional Water Pipeline

The Southern Regional Water Pipeline will take the combined water from Wivenhoe Dam, Hinze Dam, the Tugan desalination plant and future water sources to where it is most needed across five South East Queensland councils.
A portion of this 100km pipe line runs along Railway Street, Ebbw Vale. Shamrock Civil were awarded the contract to carry out a full reconstruction of Railway Street once the pipeline was installed.
The contract comprised of the following major activities:
- Demolition of existing asphalt (approx. 3,000m2);
- Excavation of new pavement;
- Placement of 160m of storm water pipes and associated structures;
- Construction of new asphalt pavement (approx. 3,000m2);
- Construction of new concrete footpath and driveways (approx. 100m2); and
- Landscaping (approx. 220m2).
As there are many residential properties and a popular soccer club located on Railway Street, it was essential to maintain local access at all times. All works were programmed and executed to cause minimal disruption to residents and patrons.
