The Millennium Arts Project At QCC |
|
CLIENT: Bovis Lend Lease
VALUE: $3,500,000
DURATION: May 2004 - October 2004
The Millennium Arts Project works included site clearing, site decontamination / remediation and bulk excavation. During site clearing / demolition all concrete was stockpiled onsite and crushed using a Nordberg LT1213. This process ensured the sustainable recycling of the onsite concrete demo and created over 7,000 tonnes of quality crushed concrete which was used a hardstand across the entire site.
The site remediation process was conducted under the supervision of the (CPLG) Contaminated Land Practitioner Group - ARUP and saw the removal of over 48,000 tonnes of contaminated material. The impacted soil contaminants ranged from hydrocarbons to heavy metals and the disposal and site tracking of these materials was all coordinated by Shamrock Civil Engineering.
The bulk earthworks were carried out at the completion of the site remediation and over 20,000m3 of material was removed from site. Due to the position of the site adjacent to the Brisbane River environmental controls were of the highest priority especially during the decontamination phase of the works.
Shamrock Civil Engineering implemented all the necessary environmental measures to prevent the cross contamination of impacted soils within the surrounding areas focusing on the importance of silt and erosion control.
