Chermside Shopping Centre Roadworks

CLIENT:                   Westfield Design and Construction

VALUE:                    $3,800,000

DURATION:             February 2006 - October 2006

Shamrock Civil Engineering was contracted to construct a 7,700m2 1.5mm HDPE Lined evaporation pond, building pads and a 600m access road.

As part of the stage 5 Westfield Chermside expansion, SCE were awarded the internal roads and carpark contract.  These works involved close coordination with the client to meet their specific critical dates but also to enable continued progress in all areas of the site.  The roads package involved both works for Brisbane City Council and Main Roads as well as internal roads and 2 separate on grade car parks for Westfield Design & Construction direct.  Over 1.5km of stormwater lines, approximately 15,000m2 of asphalt pavement and 2000m2 of concrete pavement were palced throughout the site.

The stage 5 expansion will increase the centre from approximately 79,000sqm to approximately 116,000sqm, making this one of Queensland's largest regional shopping centres.

"The opening day was a great success, and the complimentary speeches from Mr. Stephen Lowry and Mr. Bob Jordan at the opening should be passed on to all those involved on just how good the Centre looked from a standard of quality and design benchmark which was delivered on the day."  Allan Robertson, Senior Project Manager
